Racing
Experience/Background:
I have been racing bicycles via USCF around 16
years and had my first competitive race in 1989 somewhere in North
Texas. I have been fortunate to achieve multiple podium finishes in the
district road and criterium championships in Tennessee (most of them
being Masters races).
Additionally, during this 16 year time
span my races have included more than 250 USCF (at some point it became
USA Cycling) sanctioned events and luckily managed to stay upright and
win 25-30 of them while finishing in the top 10 in more than half the
races entered. These numbers are an accumulation of races as a Cat 4,
Cat 3, and Master. My team affiliations have been: Memphis Velo, Back
Yard Burger Cycling, Oklahoma City Velo, ACCM Motor Werks, Memphis
Racing Cyclists, and Team Mirage (Dallas,TX.).
Of all the
races participated in I have been truly blessed to have (eventually)
walked away from all the crashes! Other than a couple cracked ribs,
cracked sternum, several lost layers of skin, bruised hip(s), and a few
contusions, my body has been spared serious injury. Call me lucky. :)
My
passions are riding, racing, and promoting cycling wherever and
whenever the opportunity presents itself. Mostly, though, it`s the rush
and excitement of going fast on a bike and the many, many, awesome
friends I have made over the years that keeps me turning a crank!
