Aaron Guyer's Recap - Marx Bensdorf | Smith & Nephew GP 07

Here's a brief summary of my weekend since I can only type one-handed.

Road race- went too early on last climb, got stuck behind a guy who blew-up near the church and watched the field stream by. I got back on after the 2nd turn, and caught the lead group, but it was too late- I ended up 15th.

TT- felt good, averaged 25.5mph, got 8:48- enough for 6th place.

Crit- started well, yo-yoed throughout the field the whole race, last 3 laps I managed to get up into top 10 or so- just behind Bryan. Then- disaster. Yes, I ate it on the last turn of the last lap of the crit. I really don't know what happened, somehow my back wheel slid out (possibly on some gravel or the lip of a manhole cover) and I went down hard on my right shoulder. All my road rash is on my shoulder and arm, so I know I didn't have a typical slide-out. I knew I was hurt when I stood up and felt my collarbone. I have a midshaft, comminuted right clavicle fracture. One of my shoulder specialists at Campbell said I really did a great job.
The good news- no surgery needed, the bad news- off the bike for 6 weeks. I move in 4 weeks, so I guess my days of riding in Memphis are over. I can get on the trainer whenever though..I would like to mention that I am using one of Smith and Nephew's products- The Exogen Bone Healing System- to speed my recovery.
